LIVEABOARD DIVING "Liveaboard" dive boats are exactly what their name implies; a boat that has been converted or built as a floating hotel for divers. They become very useful when the dive sites are out of range of ordinary day trip boats, as is the case of a number of the best sites in the Andaman Sea. Over the last few years they have become very popular in Thailand and there are a number of operators offering liveaboard cruises from Phuket, with varying standards. The boats represented on this site have been carefully selected as high quality, experienced vessels. The operators and their staff are experienced professionals with a track record that we are familiar and comfortable with. Food, service, diving expertise and site knowledge is excellent on all the boats, this is the minimum we require. The KINGFISHER This vessel is a privately owned 22 meter, purpose built vessel that cruises at a steady 12 knots; she is ideal for liveaboard diving. Initially designed for liveaboard fishing she is now available for private diving charters. There are 10 air conditioned berths, 2 hot showers, 2 W/C and a deck shower,. 5,000 liter’s of fresh water, personal storage facilities and full navigation equipment including GPS, VHF/UHF communications. The engines are double redundant which means there are two engines and gearboxes, so if anything goes she is never left high and dry. There is a shaded dining area upstairs and the food is excellent and there’s plenty of it (European breakfast, Thai and European main courses). There is always a full crew on all cruises; this includes a cruise director/instructor, cook, captain, and deckhands. The Diving area is at the stern and the is room for divers to fully kit up before entering the water. The tender is on hand for diver collection, drop off and beach runs. The JUNE HONG CHIAN LEE Built 1962 to transport Charcoal this Chinese junk was part of a small merchant fleet trading up and down the Burmese, Thai and Malaysian coastlines until 1985 when it was restored for use as a classical yacht. 1999 sees the junk's rebirth as a luxury Liveaboard dive boat. The June Hong is 30 m in length and 8.50 m in width and when not under sail power cruise on a 380hp main engine. The accommodations on this boat is the most spacious that you will come across. Six air conditioned cabins each with own shower and toilet and 2 recreational dining areas covering a phenomenal 150 sq.m The vessel also has the full complement of ocean going gear including full Nav station (Sat Nav., GPS, sounder etc) , life raft and 2 rib tenders 4.2 & 5.8m. When diving is over or in the surface interval the immense deck of the June Hong is the ultimate place to relax. Diving from The June Hong Chian Lee is truly a memorable experience. The SAI MAI The Sai Mai is a 70' purpose built diving vessel that has founded her reputation on providing comfortable, highly personalized diving for a maximum of eight guests. With small dive groups and a friendly knowledgeable crew the Sai Mai give top value diving in the waters of Thailand and Burma. Full GPS and communications are on board along with twin engine and generator redundancy and of course the important life raft and emergency oxygen.

The MV TJ RERAI Another boat that is fantastic value 'The Rerai' has been refitted and upgraded to a much higher standard than it's price suggests. She is a 22 meter hard -wood vessel purpose built for Liveaboard diving and cruises at a steady 12-14 knots. She has 6 very spacious and fully air-conditioned bunks for 12 guests, two of, which have en-suite facilities In addition she has four shower/toilets, carries 6,000 liters of fresh water and full navigation equipment and all systems are double redundant. The main deck has a spacious saloon and dining area with TV and VDO and upstairs is a large sundeck with a covered area and sun-beds for relaxation and listening to music. The rear end of the sundeck has been converted into a cocktail bar, which becomes a focal point during the evenings. There is a crew of 7 including a cruise controller and divemaster. The dive deck has been refitted with adequate room for divers and tanks and the rear platform makes for easy entries and exits. The cruises from Ao Nang in Krabi are always very relaxed and sociable as well as efficient and congenial for all divers. The MV TJ Rerai offers two different destinations:

THE WANDERLUST A beautiful 52 ft. wooden ketch-rigged trimaran, that takes 8 guests in 3 double and 2 single cabins. She has indoor shower and toilet facilities as well as a shower on the large well laid out deck. A big main saloon and a fully equipped galley, together with a large sun deck with CD stereo, TV and video systems and a canopied area for relaxing, make this a wonderful yacht to be on. Wanderlust has 2 compressors, a 110 hp diesel engine, radar, GPS navigation system, depth sounder and a 4 meter RIB dinghy with 25 hp outboard. Life onboard is very relaxed as it should be on a yacht and you will do plenty of sailing and some island exploration in between dives. GENESIS 1 The vessel is a 25m steel hulled purpose designed dive boat, she is powered by twin 360 hp PS v10 diesels and has a top cruising speed of 16 knots. There are berths for 12 guests in twin and single A/C cabins sharing 2 toilet/shower rooms plus 2 outdoor showers,.12,000 liters of fresh water are carried in addition to the 4,000 liter per day watermaker. There are 3 compressors below deck and full navigation equipment including GPS, 3-D sidefinder and radar. All systems are double redundant. There is a large indoor dining area and two sundecks and the food is always excellent and there's plenty of it (European breakfast, Thai main courses). There is a full crew of 7 on all cruises; this includes a cruise director, dive instructor or divemaster, cook, captain, engineer and deckhands. The Diving Area holds 28 tanks, with 2 large benches. S/Y CRESCENT A 60-ft. fiberglass ketch rigged fiberglass yacht the Crescent is another fantastic boat cruising and diving Burmese waters. She takes 8/9 guests in 4 separate cabins with 3 shower/toilets, a fully equipped galley and lots of deck space for relaxation and enjoyment. The service on board is exceptional and her trips combine some great sailing and sightseeing with frontier diving.
